Q: How does this integrate with sales orders?
The integration happens at multiple points. When you sell products marked as equipment with serial number tracking, delivery confirmation automatically creates equipment records. If you've configured warranty options on the product, those warranties are automatically applied to the delivered equipment. Later, you can create warranty extension sales orders directly from equipment records. The system maintains links between equipment, original sales orders, delivery moves, and any subsequent warranty sales.
Q: Can I bulk-import existing equipment?
Yes, equipment records can be imported using Odoo's standard import functionality. Prepare a CSV or Excel file with your equipment data including required fields like name, serial number, and customer. You can import optional fields like manufacturer, category, location, and address details. The import tool validates that serial numbers and asset tags are unique. For large equipment portfolios, this is much more efficient than manual entry.
Q: How do recurring services know when to create jobs?
A scheduled job runs daily checking all active recurring service schedules. It calculates whether each schedule is due based on the last service date and the configured interval. When a service comes due, the system automatically creates a draft field service task with all equipment details, location information, and service instructions pre-populated. The task appears in the field service pipeline ready for scheduling. This automation ensures services aren't missed whilst giving you control over the exact scheduling and technician assignment.
